Thrill Kill
2008-03-11

Thrill Kill was a fighting game being developed for the PlayStation by Paradox Development. It was canceled by Electronic Arts a few weeks before shipping after EA acquired the original publisher, Virgin Interactive. In a release, EA stated that they didn't want to "publish such a senselessly violent game", as they felt that it would harm their image. They also stated that they deemed the game so offensive that they would not even attempt to sell the game to be released by another publisher either. Later, former employees that had worked on the game released the full game onto the internet, and along with various beta versions.

WARNING: THE UNCENSORED VERSION OF "THRILL KILL" CONTAINS STRONG VIOLENCE, BLOOD & GORE, AND MATURE SEXUAL THEMES. THIS GAME HAS BEEN RATED 'AO'(ADULTS ONLY 18+) BY THE ESRB RATING BOARD. BY CLICKING "DOWNLOAD" YOU AGREE THAT YOU ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.

Once you extract "Thrill Kill" from the '.zip' you will get to weird named files in the form of a '.cue' and '.bin'. That's the game. You can try to emulate it, with ePSXe or another emulator, or burn it to a disk and run it on a PS, PS1, PS2 slim, or a modded PlayStation.

Thrill Kill Update
2009-01-21
This update is being made to address several issues some people have encountered while trying to play Thrill Kill.

Issue 1: Disk Swap with PS/PS1
When I first created this site I was under the impression that it dose not make any difference what disk you use for the swap as long as it is a real PS/PS1 disk. After some time I have noticed minor differenced in Thrill Kill depending on witch disk I use to boot it. I really don't know why, weather it's the number of tracks or quality of the disk or whatever. My example: When I boot Thrill Kill with Spongebob Squarepants, there is no sound with FMVs and the final "Thrill Kill" (Shocking Animation) Freezes, but when I boot with Rocket Power, no problems. Therefor, as a note, if you choose to disk swap to boot Thrill Kill, experiment with different disks to find one that works best.

Issue 2: ePSXe Drivers
Depending on witch drivers you use you may have various problems, the drivers you need varies depending on you PC, bla bla bla. Yea, well the problem is I own a Mac, so I really don't know witch driver work best. As for what emulator to use for Mac...when I find one I'll let you know.

Issue 3: Blank Screen
I have found that some people (including myself) encounter a blank screen when trying to run Thrill Kill with ePSXe. This is due to the combination of drivers you chose to install, your version of windows, your system spec, but mainly the drivers you choose. If this is the case press (+).

Issue 4: Download Size
It's apparent that some people are having problems download the 495mb file, so I've split the game into 5 separate '.zip' files. I still think the 495mb file is easier to work with, but if your having problems, the split files should do fine; if not you need a better internet connection. If you have problems opening a split-zip download 7Zip.

Issue 5: Extra Files?
I have been noticing extra files being added to the '.zip' file. I really have no idea whats that's about, but here are the file that should be included in the '.zip', if you fine any others, deleted them.
  • NEXUS-TKFU.bin
  • NEXUS-TKFU.cue
  • TK.jpg
  • TK_B.jpg

Issue 6: Missing Background Music
Apparently whenever you do a disk swap you will have problem with the background music not playing. It took me almost a month to realize this sine it never bother me. Let me explain, this is the only gain I have burned and there is so much bloody violent sound effects it drains of any music anyway. The only fix I have for this is to play the music yourself. In order to do this you first need the '.m4a's. So Burn Thrill Kill to a disk, insert into your computer, and open iTunes. iTunes recognizes it as a CD and will download album art work and label the tracks(go figure?). If you too lazy to do that I've provided the tracks in this simple download. Side Note: Track 1 is that game, it wont play is iTunes(Duh).

Issue 7: PS2 Slim Disk Swap
To counter my previous information, some people claim Thrill Kill runs on PS2. I don't own a PS2, but I guess you guys can give it a try. A PS2 Slim disk swap is much more complicated then a PS/PS1 disk swap, so heres the video:

Issue 8: Normal PS2
So, if Thrill Kill runs on the PS2 Slim, why not the older PS2s. For obvious reasons a disk swap is not possible. If you have this system, you could give a very complicated cog swap system a try. I've watched this video and I'm convince it will work. You may need to view more of this users videos tho.

Issue 9: Horizontal Scroll Bar
Not a big deal, I know, but this site displays fine on my MacBook; I only assumed it would auto-resize but the youtube videos prevented that. For those web developer out there; this is a good example of why we should test our sites on multiple computers.

I would like to thank all who made this update possible. Hopefully many more people will enjoy this great game because of our efforts.
